Pair

Ah, a beautiful night out for menu club last Wednesday. Our setting was ideal, I thought. It’s our first month without Jane, and we had a truly relaxing, casual night out at this lovely little spot near my house.

Small plates and nice drinks, vaguely country French setting with wide open doors and adorable curtains, old hutches, soft lighting. One of Jane’s favorites. Sasha and Lauri enjoyed Seattle’s own new “Dry Soda” in lavender and rhubarb flavors. Delicious! Beth enjoyed a glass of cava, after a long week of trying to get going in her new business venture. Bubbly all around.

Sasha is looking truly wonderful, and has inherited a box of maternity wear from her department at UW. James leaves for a month in China on the first. Lauri had a peaceful trip to Hawaii for Nok’s grandmother’s memorial service, and Beth is enduring days upon days of power sanding as a team of people attempt to paint her house, supposedly. As of this post, it still appears that they are really only interested in removing the prior coat(s) of paint. No new paint in sight, here in the midst of Day 8. We did wonder aloud where Jane might be enjoying herself over on the other coast…

For food, we ordered cheese puffs (yum!), the pear salad, the beet salad, the brisket, the halibut, and the macaroni and cheese plates. We also split the apple tart for dessert. All were delicious. I love Pair. It’s very serene. Romantic. A great place for conversation. Unpretentious, tasty, perfect.

We’re aiming for al fresco next month, location TBD. Yay!
