I found it! I found it! I found out where I had this cake, and it’s IN Seattle! What a relief.
Okay, so this isn’t exactly Menu Club information (yet), but for the longest time, I’ve been trying to remember where I ate one of the best slices of cake ever in my life. I thought it was likely a Menu Club outing, but, alas, I was wrong. It was a work-related outing. At Palisade. It was a dessert I ordered to be polite, on a night when I didn’t feel like enduring the in-town partners for another minute. Oh, it was such heaven, this cake. Suddenly, last night when I should have been slaving over my script, it just came to me. The dinner was about 3 years ago. I’ve had a lot of cake and outings since. But this one has haunted me for its goodness.
From the menu:
Pina Colada Cake
Homemade vanilla-rum cake with guava-orange filling, coconut cream custard, and tropical fruit compote.
Usually I head straight for chocolate, but this, my dears, is well worth a taste. If anyone wants to go to Palisade, just holler.
