Sitka and Spruce

A fun night, with good wine, great food, and intimate atmosphere. Very handsome waiter, in a Seattle sort of way (well, I thought so).

Tiny inside, with the lone menu on a chalkboard, in pretty script. Delicious French red wine (Lirac?). Totally yummy. For dinner, we shared 6 different small plates, at the suggestion of the owner/server guy.
1. Organic blanched carrots over watercress greens and mint with a super light hint of a dressing. (totally awesome)
2. Grilled octopus on tunisian flatbread with a sort of minty pesto. so good.
3. Ravioli stuffed with rabbit – very simple, just a touch of parmesean.
4. Polenta with hedgehog and chantrelle mushrooms sauteed, on top.
5. A whole trout that Lauri served and de-boned for us, very delicious… and finally
6. A hangar steak grilled and tender and with some more watercress and creme fraiche.

We passed on dessert. Lauri has been laboring over her auction catalog, Jane made a trip to Boston to see a friend in need, and she’ll be heading to Augusta, GA for a day at The Masters. Beth is working diligently on “the script”, and Sasha is looking forward to summer break!

Next stop: Cremant in Madrona
